Intimacy Direction
Why is Intimacy Direction Important?
Intimacy direction prioritizes the safety, consent, and dignity of actors in intimate scenes, paves the way for a more ethical and inclusive industry, and ensures a safe and respectful workplace both on-stage and off.
What Does an Intimacy Director Do?
When brought onto a production, an intimacy director can help establish boundaries, enforce those boundaries, help actors manage their own emotional or physical responses to a scene, and educate both actors and production team on safe practices.
Intimacy Guides
Part of the job of an Intimacy director is often to document planned work with actors, as well as the outcomes of that work.

Fight Choreography
Why is Fight Choreography Important?
When it comes to stage combat in a live performance, actors need the tools to reliably execute these scenes safely and repeatably. In order to ensure physical safety during stage combat, actors need detailed instruction, clearly established guidelines, and a keen eye watching over the process.
What Does an Fight Choreographer Do?
When brought onto a production, a fight choreographer, also known as a fight director, creates the illusion of danger on a live stage, planning and teaching repeatable combat sequences to actors of all skill levels. A fight choreographer’s number one job should always be keeping the actors safe during these scenes.

La Stellidaura Vendicante; Boston Early Music Festival (2025)
When working on historically informed productions, a fight choreographer’s job can also be to research accurate combat techniques from a specific period and/or area. This can include locating and studying historical treatises or interviewing experts in a particular style. Then, they must take this information and translate it into safe and repeatable stage combat choreography.
